I have long had a passion for working with couples which precedes my time as a therapist. Besides my volunteer work with engaged couples and families, I often found myself helping out other couples. In therapy, my approach is gentle, caring, nonjudgmental, and supportive. I am trained in Gottman Couples Method Levels 1 and 2. John and Julie Gottman developed one of the premier methods in use today for couple therapy. I have also integrated Toni Herbine-Blank’s Intimacy From the Inside Out with my use of the Gottman Method. I am experiential and emotionally focused in my work with couples.
Below are some of the areas of potential focus in couple therapy:
-
- Communication difficulties
- Conflict management
- Relational difficulties
- Infidelity
- Separation / Divorce
- Co-parenting
I help couples to understand why they and their partner struggle to understand each other. Being able to listen to your partner with an open heart as they explore why they do what they do can lead to much greater understanding and a closer bond.
